Zakura Ships "Common" — 14x Faster Proving, No Network Upgrade Needed
The optimizations teased last week are out. On August 29, Zakura released Common, a set of cryptography and protocol libraries that deliver 14x faster proof generation on mobile, 5x faster on desktop, 21x faster Sinsemilla hashing, 1.5x faster trial decryption, and 4–8x faster zk-SNARK verification. These are pure library improvements — no consensus change required. Wallets and full nodes that adopt Common get the speedup immediately. Vizor has already confirmed integration; other wallets can follow by adding the relevant crates (e.g. zakura-bellman v1.0.1). Mert called it "an insane engineering feat." This is the largest single release of cryptographic optimizations in Zcash's history, and it landed one month after Ironwood activation. Zakura announcement · Forum
